An iconic event in the Top End, The Darwin Cup Carnival is held during July and August each year with the major race the first Monday of August.
People from all walks of life come together to enjoy the excitement, action, atmosphere, fashion and social delights of what is one of the most anticipated events of its type in the country.
Over 40,000 people attend trackside across eight days of racing spanning four weeks. The event kicks off with the Darwin Guineas Race Day, followed by the Chief Ministers Cup, Ladies Day, NT Derby Day, Metric Mile Race Day, Darwin Corporate Park Race Day, Palmerston Sprint Race Day (with the Darwin Turf Club Gala Ball held on this evening), then finally the major event, the Darwin Cup.
