We asked Zach, Front Office Manager at Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour, to share a few of his personal recommendations and observations about life in the city.
A place I always recommend is Darling Harbour.
It’s right on our doorstep and has one of the best atmospheres in the city, especially in the late afternoon. Watching the sunset over the water from the bridge is something every visitor should experience at least once.
It’s also an easy area to explore on foot, with plenty of places to stop along the way.
For a casual drink, I’d recommend Slip Inn.
It’s a good spot to enjoy happy hour with friends, grab a cold beer, and relax after a busy day. It has a fun atmosphere without feeling too crowded earlier in the evening.
If you’re looking for nightlife, Chinese Laundry is a well-known Sydney venue with a lively atmosphere and good music.
It’s popular with both locals and visitors and is a good option if you want to experience the city a bit later at night.
For dinner, I’d suggest King Clarence Restaurant. It’s a great spot if you’re looking for something a bit more stylish and memorable while staying in the city.
If you’re after something more casual, Hotel CBD is also a good option for classic pub meals, drinks, and watching footy in a relaxed setting.
Industry Beans is definitely one of my favourite spots nearby.
It’s only about a five-minute walk from the apartments and is a great place for quality coffee and breakfast before heading out for the day.
One thing I always notice is how quickly the city changes from day to night.
During the day, the CBD feels fast-paced and work-focused, but once the sun goes down the area becomes much more social and energetic. It almost feels like a different side of the city takes over.
Vibrant but easy-going – a place where the energy of the city blends naturally with the calm of the waterfront.
