Join the Aboriginal Heritage walk where you will journey into the ancestral lands of the Koolin nation.  Learn about the traditional uses of plants for food, tools, and medicine, and experience a traditional smoking ceremony led by an Indigenous guide.

 

The Garden Explorer is a hop-on, hop-off service that winds its way through the best spots in the park. Enjoy the live commentary and stunning views as you experience the gardens highlights like Guilfoyle’s Volcano water reservoir, the Tropical Glasshouse, and the Ornamental Lake.

 

The Ian Potter Foundation Children’s Garden is perfect for exploring and playing. Kids can crawl through plant tunnels, run through bamboo forests, and get their hands dirty digging in the kitchen garden.

Getting There and General Information

 

Located at Birdwood Avenue, the Royal Botanic Gardens is accessible by public bus (number 605). Alternatively, take a 15-minute taxi ride from Metro Apartments on Bank Place or drive and park close to the gardens entry gates (street metered parking for up to four hours).

 

Entry to the Royal Botanic Gardens is free and is open 7:30am to sunset every day of the year.

 

There are two gift shops in the gardens that sell a beautiful range of botanic-inspired gifts.

 

The Royal Botanic Gardens has two cafes with spectacular views, perfect for a quick bite with friends or a lingering lunch.
