Held Annually in December
Carols in the Domain is Australia’s largest free concert, bringing about the spirit of Christmas and helping raise funds for the Salvation Army. Join your favourite artists and sing along to classic carols – lighting a candle for all of those who need it. With a number of food trucks and stalls, and optional VIP booking, you just can’t pass it up.
This is a lovely outdoor setup, located at the Sydney Dome, or the Domain. The venue lies adjacent to the spectacular Royal Botanical Gardens, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and Hyde Park, and is a short walk from the iconic Sydney Opera House.
If you want the best seats in the venue, get yourself a Gold Class ticket: ranging from $53 – $132 per person. Gold class tickets offer reserved seating in the optimal location for the best view of the main stage. Or you could skip the fancy seating and settle on the lawn – just remember to bring a picnic rug, mozzie spray, and some pocket money to help out with the Salvo’s great cause. Hampers and candles will be sold at the event, starting at $52 and $10 respectively, and all funds will be directed towards charitable purposes.
Note: Ticket prices are subject to change. For the most up to date prices, please check on the official site: carolsinthedomain.com/
If you are taking the train, the closest station is St James, at a 4 minute walk from Hyde Park. There are also a number of bus services located along the Park. It is best to plan your trip beforehand, and get a head start, to beat the busy season.
Metro has the best rooms for the Carollers, with Metro Apartments on King a short 17 minute walk from the Domain, Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour an 18 minute walk, and the Metro Hotel Marlow Sydney Central at a 22 minute walk. Grab a room fast and beat the holiday crowds.
